Ten Hours in Portland, Maine

29 Jan

Sometimes I just need to get off campus. Small liberal arts schools certainly have their perks, but eating in the same dining hall 3 times a day 7 days a week can get pretty boring and extremely monotonous. This past saturday the BF and I decided to spend an entire day away from campus and enjoy the beautiful weather in downtown Portland.

We met the BF’s mother and younger sister at Walters for lunch. Neither of us had ever been there, and after hearing rave reviews we finally made it over. The lunch was to die for–and the cocktail list made me wish we had tried it for dinner instead of a late lunch.

After lunch, the BF and I spent a good two hours walking around Portland, window shopping and catching up on celebrity gossip in one of my favorite Portland cafe’s Mornings in Paris on Exchange Street before making our way over to the independent movie theater for Tinker Taylor Soldier Spy. If you are considering this movie, beware… it’s awful. I’ve NEVER fallen asleep in a theater before–but the combination of a warm movie theater, a bad movie and the BF’s shoulder made it ever so easy to pass out. Whoops.

As if our day date hadn’t been eventful enough, we topped it all off with a trip to Novare Res Bier Cafe–Maine’s most famous Beer Garden for some local brews (and white wine) before dinner at Flatbreads. It’s probably the only place where you can get Vegan pizza with Free-Range Chicken. Love it. It was one of my favorite days this semester.

On a more depressive note: the BF told me this weekend that he’s so excited to bring his 3×5 foot Hangover poster to our new apartment in Boston. I figured he would drop the Hangover poster upon graduation… but it looks like some things never change… great.

Hangover is a classic. Its poster is a piece of art that would adorn any house. Fully supportive of this excellent choice.

Hey Dormstyler do you have a boyfriend? You haven’t been talking about him lately on this blog!
